NY Rangers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

For Valentine’s day I purchased tickets to the Rangers versus Blue Jackets game at MSG. I knew Jess would like that more than dinner being as awesome as she is. We took the train down yesterday and caught the game.

We were hoping for a blow out, considering the Rangers have almost double the points of the Blue Jackets. Thanks to some horrible bullshit official time clock being 8 hours away in Toronto a goal in the second period with 0:00.1 seconds left was taken away from the Rangers. This left the game at 2-1 Rangers. Of course in the third the Blue Jackets tie it up and force overtime. Thankfully we won only 22 seconds into overtime.

Go Rangers!

NY Islanders vs. Florida Panthers

Jess and I decided to go to the Islanders vs. Panthers game Sunday just for fun. Didn’t care what the outcome of the game was because we could care less about either team. Just went to watch hockey. The Islanders lost 4-1 which we figured was going to happen. Got pretty decent seats considering both tickets plus processing and shipping cost me $45. It’s so cheap out there, probably the only reason why I go. Two tickets in worse seats at the Garden costs me $150 and I still have to pay $63 for the train tickets. Ouch.

So Sunday we get to go see the Rangers again at the Garden and go back to being rowdy fans. Fun times always.

NY Rangers vs Winnipeg Jets

Tuesday Jess and I headed down to the city for the Rangers versus Jets game at MSG. Just a little something we did for her birthday Monday.

I broke in my new Jagr Rangers jersey that I promised I would wear as long as they weren’t playing Pittsburgh. As we figured the Rangers beat Winnipeg 3-0. Shockingly Winnipeg isn’t that bad this season for the fact that they threw themselves together and pretty much got rid of anything to do with the Thrashers at the start of the season.

Army vs. Air Force Hockey Game

Last night Jess and I went over to West Point to see the Army vs. Air Force hockey game. This game was more exciting than the last one we went to. Score was 3-3. We got to see another tie!

I checked the rankings and Army is now 1-11-5 so I guess we are lucky that we saw 2 out of a whopping 7 points they have.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. NY Islanders

Jess and I headed out to Long Island Saturday to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins versus the NY Islanders. The seats were nice and in the middle, just horribly crappy. Tippy top row that looked like was crapily added to fit more people. Not even comfortable to sit in. No wonder why they were so cheap. Whatever we had a great time! Penguins won 6-3.

NY Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

The day finally came! Sadly it’s over already.

Tuesday Jess and I went down to the city to see the NY Rangers (her team) face the Pittsburgh Penguins (my team). Besides having to walk around in the rain, the night went very well. Smooth train ride down with a few beers, few more beers at a bar across from MSG, and then a few more beers while watching an awesome game.

Unfortunately somehow the Penguins lost. Don’t get it, makes no sense. Penguins lost 4-3.

Never had so much fun at a hockey game before. Helps when the other person is into it as much as you (if not more).

Hockey Game: Army vs. Brown

Sat night Jess and I went to see Army versus Brown in a hockey match at Tate Rink in West Point. We had great seats, especially since we were in the last row up top and had this kind of view. Not too shabby for $10.

You can definitely tell they are way far off from NHL level skill, but I wasn’t expecting world-class talent. It was a very close game somehow. Army can thank their goalie for keeping them in the game. He had some amazing stops. Brown should have won this game but it ended in a 1-1 tie (guess they have ties in this league).

I am strongly considering season tickets since they are very cheap and we love hockey. Only about 50 minutes from home.

MLB 2011 “World Series”

Is anyone watching this? I honestly forgot for a second that it was even going on let alone what teams were playing. Sad that there will be more people in your local supermarket than watching the game tonight when there is a chance it will go to game seven if the Cardinals win. Oh well, baseball sucks. So glad hockey season started now that MLS is coming to an end.

I guess that’s what the MLB gets for having the audacity the call it the “World Series” when it only is the United States. Don’t get all technical with Toronto, it might as well be the US, Canada doesn’t count.
